Oh So Fancy

Tell me who you are:

Tall. Loud. Blonde. Haha!

I am 30 years young and a tornado of a person. High energy and completely in love with all the life around me. I tend to be louder than necessary (majority of the time) and my wardrobe is also just as vibrant. I understand the importance of what hard work can accomplish. I love with a lot of passion, care for all that enter my life, and I know I am the best ring leader any group of friends could ask for! To infinity and beyond with all of life’s adventures.

*

Mmm Bop

What do you do for work?

I am currently a NYS Corrections Officer. January 2021  will be a year on the job. My personality works well in the type of environment that comes with being in a prison. The job has taught me to remain physically fit and keep my senses sharp. Before this big career change I was a bartender and server. The money one can make waiting on tables is insane, but the hours took a lot of life from me. I’m proud of my career move in order to not only help my own future but the family around me.

 The Guns are out

How did you become interested in skydiving?

As a young girl my mother would always take my brother and I apple and pumpkin picking at Tantillos Orchard and Farm. The orchard is located right next to the dropzone, Skydive the Ranch, in Gardiner, NY. As a little girl I would always look up and see these beautifully, bright colored parachutes just seem to appear out of nowhere in the bright blue sky and slowly but surely float back down towards the earth. I was absolutely fascinated. The day I passed my driver’s license test, the first place I went was that dropzone. Sadly at 16 I had to wait until my 18th birthday in order to make my first skydive. I begged the owners of the dropzone to just let me be around the hanger and possibly work. So for the next two summers that is exactly what I did. I became the harness chick and would brief first time jumpers on their skydives. It was an amazing opportunity to learn more about the gear and the sport.

When did you start?

I made my first skydive at the beginning of the summer in 2008. It was such an overwhelming experience. I purchased a video for my first skydive. After watching my jump I was so excited and happy. I remember screaming and drooling (haha). After the parachute opened my tandem instructor helped me find the dropzone and he was able to guide the parachute safely to the ground. I became obsessed. I wanted to be able to skydive whenever I pleased.

A whole new community opened up to me when I pursued my skydiving license; teachers, pilots, DZOs, fun jumpers, manifest!! Now 10 years of being a licensed skydiver, I have traveled the country skydiving with my friends and family over some of the world's most breathtaking landscapes. It’s not about just the adrenaline, it’s about the beauty, the community, and yes… shredding at 120mph or faster. It’s the moment when everything starts to slow down, even though you are falling towards the earth, and you start to understand how your body can move and fly. How you can communicate with others during freefall with your body. The parachute is a whole other experience as well. It’s a controlled descent while working with the winds. It’s extremely rewarding that I can call myself a licensed skydiver.

WOW

Thick or Thin?

Whelp, have to go with thick on this one. Everyone loves junk in the trunk.

*

Thick it is

What is your most memorable moment as a skydiver?

My most memorable moment has to be living out in Hawai’i. Just all the life that came with living on an island and being able to jump out over this crystal blue ocean. The beaches and forests were so incredibly beautiful. I was able to learn a lot while jumping out there especially with my parachute. The winds were a big factor in jumping.

*

 Smile your on camera

*

What is your favorite part of the skydiver life?

My favorite part is group jumping. Like camps. It’s the intense amount of learning. I have done a few different angle camps and I loved the stages;  the dirt dive which is the prebriefing on the skydive. How to exit the aircraft correctly and safely with 3-5 jumpers, body position throughout the jump, how to slow down and speed up, and the person we should be flying next to. The repetition of jumps with the same people made for a great amount of learning. In between skydives we would debrief the jumps. Correct mistakes or give advice while the experience was still fresh.

I also love the family aspect. Traveling and sharing with people all over this planet. It's a small world in the community of skydiving and amazing how people I met in Delaware have met me in the middle of Phoenix to catch up with people they met from Florida at a skydiving event!!! The sport brings people together. The sport teaches us how to keep the little things small and to value the life that we have.

*

*

What is your least favorite part of the lifestyle?

Uhhh least favorite is when I see negligence when skydivers do not check or maintain their skydiving gear in good working conditions or even themselves in a good health condition. I’ve been on different planes when there have been malfunctions and it was due to the person goofing off. There is always something to learn in this sport. It is a high risk activity no matter what level of experience a person may have. We should all want to be at the top of our game and safe when jumping from an airplane.

Tell me about your shenanigans at boogies.

My favorite part of skydiving boogies is dressing up with the friends! I rocked a pretty accurate outfit of Harley Quinn to one event!! It is so cool to see imagination fly at a dropzone.

*

Oh look that's Tim at the PussFoot boogie in AZ

*

Do you prefer your men in speedos or booty shorts?

Booty shorts babes. We already talked about likin’ that junk in the trunk!

*

Robert Kraft looks good

*

Do You travel often?

I do actually. Skydiving has taught me how fragile life is and to explore while we all can. Traveling isn’t always surrounded by skydiving for me. Meeting up with friends and family across this country always guarantees for a good time. Some of my favorite trips in the past few years have been snowboarding with my brother Philip in 70 degree weather at Mammoth Mountain, CA. Even did some downhill mountain biking. Super fun! Another great trip was with the PussFoot crew in Arizona. Skydiving over a desert sunset was one of a kind!

*

What a day

*

Chocolate?

Icecream.. Yes. Oh! Or maybe a KitKat. Also mad good.

*

 Look what I found

*

What's next for you and your adventures?

Have some cool adventures coming up actually. Headed to VT with some friends and family to shred some beautiful snow!! Looking forward to exploring more of what this country has to offer. Maybe get lost in the RedWoods next? Ooooo or some skydiving over M.O.A.B??

*

Wanderlust

*

Where would you like to see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years I definitely see myself still madly in love with the world around me, still head over heels for the man in my life, still exploring the oceans, forests, and skies with my friends and family, and most importantly I see myself happy and healthy.

*

 What Do We Want ?

*

Who is this Guy Tim I hear you live with?

Ooolala!!! Mr. Tim! Wow I love that guy!! Timothy has been my boyfriend, my best-friend, my lover, and partner in crime for over 8 years now. He is one hell of a diesel mechanic and is a man of a dying breed, a cook and a handyman. He is an amazing person Brian, very intelligent and willing to always lend a helping hand to others. Also, he is quite the ham haha. As we all know Tim will leave us all with the biggest smile on not only our faces, but our hearts.

*

Im lucky to know Tim and call him a friend
*

What was your favorite boogie and why?

Have to go with TSK the first and second years at Skydive the Ranch. There are two sides that made this boogie so sweet. The amount of learning that I was able to have at the ends of my fingertips was insane. So many experienced coaches and load organizers. The party also brings some of my favorite people on this planet together from all sides of the universe. Camping out all weekend, skydiving all day, and dancing the night away in style made for an amazing boogie experience.

*

TSK

*

Sweet or sour?

Tart.

 I love that apple

*

What is the craziest thing you have done at a boogie?

Skydiving in a bikini over the Gulf of Mexico was pretty insane. SUPER cold at altitude!!

*

 I see you

*

What is your favorite memory of Me?

Some of my favorite memories of you Brian have to be sharing a giant house together with the crew in Arizona. You and Tim cooking together in the mornings or amazing dinners in the evenings, oh and the master bathroom was super sexy!

*

Hey what am I holding back there

AZ PussFoot Boogie #1 2017

*

Never mind a boogie, what's the craziest thing you've ever just done?...

Craziest thing I’ve ever done was jump off a 60ft cliff into a raging river in order to save someone that I saw drowning. It was so unpredictable and in the moment. I was able to save the man and myself, but it was such a mentally and physically scary and demanding moment in my life. Jumping out of an airplane is planned. The skydive can be taught, even the different types of malfunctions and how someone can handle the situation.

*

Thats not a man.. Its a huge fish

*

Favorite Movie?

The Fifth Element. Duh! “Leeloo Dallas Multipass.” Also Bruce Willis is smoking hott in that movie!

*

 Halloween should be fun

*

I heard you are also a private pilot, tell me about that

I am a private pilot. I’ve been a pilot for about 5 years now. All the years of skydiving was what got me into not only jumping out of planes, but flying them as well. Getting my private flying license was no easy or cheap matter. My private ran me about $15,000 and took me about 8 months. I flew 2-3 times a week. I was 25, renting a cottage with Tim at the time I started trying to achieve my private flying license. I was a waitress putting herself through school and flying airplanes. I worked two different jobs and busted my butt to not only call myself a licensed pilot, but I owned my own airplane as well. By 26 I bought into a Piper Cherokee and started a business of renting our plane to other pilots. I still fly today but sadly sold the plane a few months back. Owning that specific plane due to maintenance and upkeep became too expensive for me.

*

Want cool toys? work your ass off and they can be yours too

*

Pool or Beach?

Beach baby. Sand between the buns and sunkissed skin! Game on!

*

Oh, what you reading?

*

Do you have any advice for a new skydiver?...

Learn as much as you can about the parachute. Yes, freefall is amazing, but it is your parachute that saves your life at the end of the jump. Learn to read body language of other jumpers. Be aware of all possible weather conditions and have back-up plans in case something were to happen. We all love more altitude when jumping from a plane, and should love more altitude when opening. Pulling at a lower altitude takes precious time away from being able to think and deal with a malfunction if it were to happen.

*

Make cool friends and travel

*

Do you have any advice for anyone looking to progress in this sport?

Do camps. I know they may be expensive, but these teachers and the learning environments support learning. It is consecutive as well and it creates a more open environment to ask questions and seek more knowledge.

*

I can dig it

*

Do you have any advice for someone who wanted to become a pilot?

Be financially prepared. A pilot becomes a lifestyle and to do it on your own can become expensive, the more often you fly the more you will learn. When I didn't have the money to fly and I waited too long in between lessons I forgot what I had learned last. It was safer and more worth my while by staying current. If someone still in highschool were to ask me about becoming a pilot I would tell them to start then.

*

 And Lots of it

*

If you were a drink what would you be and why?

Definitely a West Coast style IPA. Sunkissed and strong!

*

 Thats not a Duffs

*

Do you prefer the number 34 or 3?

343

*

The Number that haunts my soul

*

Thank you Lizfor taking some time to do this with me. I am in serious need of some Liz and Tim time ASAP. So lets hit it this season
Until then stay safe, keep on keeping on - Blue Skies
